Christian Education Programs Beginning Soon!

It’s that wonderful time of year when our Christian Education Programs will soon begin!  Junior Christian Education Team JCET is very excited about our new curriculum (https://thinkorange.com/252-kids-ministry-curriculum/)  that will help us teach children about Loving God, Loving Life and Loving Others based on Matthew 22:37-39!

If you are interested in being involved in the Junior Christian Education ministry by teaching or assisting in a class, please feel free to reach out to Jess Yantzi, Holly Barron, Erin Yantzi, or Sue Martin (phone numbers are in the directory). We need teachers and helpers from nursery to grade 8! If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to Jess Yantzi, Holly Barron, Erin Yantzi, or Sue Martin (phone numbers are in the directory).

A few Opportunities to Serve!

Sunday Afternoon Services at The Maples and peopleCare

The ministerial is hoping to offer bi-weekly Sunday afternoon services, at our 2 long term care homes in Tavistock, this Fall. The services (2:30 at peopleCare and 3:15 at The Maples) are 30 minutes services of readings and singing. We need your gifts and help to allow this to happen. Please reach out to Pastor Ray if you would be willing to help with a service or help to co-ordinate a service. Sharing your gifts in this way would be very much appreciated.

Greeters – More volunteers are welcome. As a greeter (individual, couple, or family) you would stand at the top of the stairs outside the parent’s room and greet people as they arrive Sunday morning. We would encourage you to be here by 9:30 or shortly after when you serve in this role. Would you or your family be willing to serve as a greeter and be scheduled in for a few Sunday mornings through the year? Contact Lisa Suderman, our office administrator, if you are willing to help with this ministry.

A CBC News Post from February 2023 Headline Reads: Canadian teens still struggling with Mental Health even as Pandemic wanes. “If you look at the different studies done since COVID-19, there has been a crisis — a mental health crisis — impacting children and youth,” said Dr. Stacey Bélanger, an expert in pediatric mental health at Sainte-Justine Hospital in Montreal.

The East Zorra Mennonite Church Health Ministry Team invites families or those interested in the mental health of children and youth to attend:

A Community Breakfast Workshop on Saturday Sept 16, 2023, at Quehl’s Banquet Hall with Guest Speaker: Cathi Watson, Counsellor from Interfaith Counselling Centre, New Hamburg. Continental Breakfast will begin at 8:30 a.m. with Presentation at 9:00 a.m.

Come join us for breakfast and learn more about the mental health challenges facing children and young adults and what supports are available in our community. Learn what are the signs and symptoms? Who can diagnose? And where to go for help?  Community Agencies will be represented to answer questions.

To register for this Free Event call or Email

9 – 11:30 a.m. Vacation Bible School. Please see announcement for more information.

YOU ARE INVITED to join us for our Celebration Times in the church Sanctuary – each day from 9:00-9:20am, and 11:15-11:30am. Here you can hear the bible story, join in our songs as we worship God, and watch as the kids engage in their memory verse and bible point for each day. We loved having members from the congregation and our families join us last year during these times!

EZMC Announcements

A lawn chair was left at the Men’s BBQ at Trevor Kropf’s and another chair was left at the potluck last Sunday. Both of these items can be found in the office entryway. If your child lost a pair of sandals you will find them in the lost and found in the basement.

Have you noticed……things are popping up in the Green Space. A – pollinator garden, play kitchen, sand box, bridge, seating in the campfire area, a wheelchair accessible

picnic table and with your help …. Coming soon …. a Ga Ga Ball Pit.

Thank you for your continuing donations helping to build a beautiful space where we can all enjoy God’s Creation.

Babylon VBS Update – July 10 -14

Registration for VBS this summer is now closed. We are looking forward to the week with about 115 kids from our church and the community! Thank you to all those who have volunteered to help make this week possible.

Prayer Support

We invite you to stand with us in praying for our week of VBS, our children and volunteers. Covering this week in prayer is one of the most important tasks we can do; we know that prayer holds so much power.

Please pray for the following, and anything else that Holy Spirit presses on your heart

– That we would be drawn closer to the One True God, to His Heart, and understand His deep and sacrificial love for us by sending His Son Jesus

– That the Lord would stir, in each of our hearts, the joy that comes from walking with Him each and every day.

– That the curriculum, conversations and activities would be in line with God’s Will

– For safety

– For good weather so we can continue with our outdoor set up and events

“Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go throw yourself into the sea’ and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer”

Matthew 21: 21-22

We have started scheduling greeters for Sunday morning worship time, but it is not too late to add your name.

Coffee Time Hosts – If you would like to add your name to the list of coffee volunteers, please contact Lisa in the office. The schedule will be updated before September and we would welcome more volunteers. A coffee host prepares the coffee and cleans up after. Thanks so much.

Beyond Our Church Community

The Hidden Acres Mennonite Camp Staff and Board of Directors want to thank everyone who came out and made our 56th Annual Chicken BBQ and 15th Annual Pie Auction fundraiser a success! The rain didn’t slow us down from serving over 800 meals raising over $14,000 (before expenses) and the pie auction smashed the record for the amount raised. This year, 67 pies sold for a total of $7280! Thank you!

We are also grateful for everyone who helped to make the event happen. Thank you to the 65 volunteers who came to help set up, serve, BBQ the chicken, clean up and more. Thank you to those who made and donated pies. And, thank you to the Chicken BBQ Committee for helping to pull all the details together and organize another great event for camp. Mark your calendars for next year’s BBQ happening on Tuesday, June 11, 2024.
